Hübner holographic window display
USA / Germany – After strengthening its photonics division over the last several years*, Hübner GmbH & Co. KG (Hübner Group) of Kassel, Germany and partner Zeiss Microoptics**, a German optoelectronics firm, unveiled an innovative holographic window display designed for public transportation vehicles such as buses and trains at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas, from January 7 to 10, this year. This technology integrates holographic optical elements directly into vehicle’s windows, transforming them into interactive displays that provide passengers with real-time information, such as upcoming stops, nearby attractions, and advertisements.
According to Hübner, multiple studies have led to the conclusion that passengers prefer receiving travel information from within the bus, train or tram as opposed to on a cellular device. Daniel Hübsch, Head of Innovation of Hübner’s Division of Material Solutions told T&BB that the product on display at CES 2025 was a near-production prototype. Field tests are planned for the end of the year, and good dialogues with operators and manufacturers are underway. Hübner will also be presenting the holographic displays for window systems at Busworld Europe in Brussels later this year (October 4 – 9).
