Mercedes-Benz H2 truck testing in the Alps

Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck

Germany – As a part of its effort to decarbonise the transport industry, Daimler Truck AG of Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Baden-Württemberg has been actively testing its hydrogen-powered Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck, marking winter testing in the Swiss Alps, to evaluate its performance under demanding conditions. Series production of the GenH2 Truck is scheduled to commence in 2027.

The testing phase focused on continuous operation, diverse weather and road conditions, and various driving manoeuvres. These tests are designed to ensure the vehicle meets the durability standards of conventional diesel trucks, aiming for 1.2 million kilometres of operation over ten years. In July 2024, Daimler Truck initiated customer trials by delivering five pre-series GenH2 Trucks to companies including Air Products, Amazon, Holcim, Ineos, and Wiedmann & Winz. These trials are essential for gathering real-world data to refine the truck's performance and reliability.
