Truck and bus registrations grow in Brazil in Q1
By Jose Secco - 30th April 2025
Brazil - In the first quarter of 2025, 27,749 trucks and 5,528 buses were registered in the Brazilian market, representing an increased of 4.8% and 34.7%, respectively compared with 26,480 trucks and 4,103 buses registered between January and March last year. The semi- and heavy-duty truck segments account for the majority of the volume sales, although he latter segment slipped seven per cent.
According to the São Paulo-association, ANFAVEA, this positive performance maintained last years’ positive pace of growth last year, but with a decrease in overall growth rate in the latter part of the quarter. This is due to the rise in interest rates and concerns about the prospect of a decrease in demand for trucks. In buses, the extension of the 2023 bidding for the Caminho da Escola Program (school bus funding programme) is expected to further boost sales throughout 2025 and to maintain significant growth achieved in the first quarter.
