USA – At the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo, held between 28 April and 1 May in Anaheim, California, Harbinger Motors Inc announced it would begin assembling batteries installed with Panasonic cells for its line of medium-duty electric vehicles, which entered production in the last month.

The American startup announced a partnership with the Japanese giant for the supply of cylindrical lithium-ion ‘2170’ cells, offering an energy density above 800 watt-hours per litre. These will initially be supplied from Japan; however, once production begins this year, Panasonic may supply Harbinger instead from its 70-GWh production facility located in De Soto, Kansas, providing the startup manufacturer with domestically-made cells.
