ACT Expo 2025: Kalmar and Forterra showcase self-driving terminal tractor

Kalmar terminal tractor with Forterra self-driving tech at ACT Expo

USA – At the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo, held between 28 April and 1 May in Anaheim, California, Cargotec-subsidiary Kalmar and Forterra showcased an autonomous terminal tractor, which is slated to enter production in late 2026.

Following on from an agreement signed last year to develop a self-driving tractor, Kalmar and Forterra are now in the second round of tests of their jointly developed solution. The ‘Ottawa AutoTT’, based on Kalmar’s ‘Ottawa T2’ diesel-powered terminal tractor, is installed with Forterra’s ‘AutoDrive’ autonomous driving system which enables the vehicle to operate without a driver (though a safety driver is required in pilot testing).
