Daimler Truck set to open semi-public e-truck charging network

Germany Daimler Truck AG, headquartered in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Baden-Württemberg, announced it is setting up a semi-public charging network across Europe through its TruckCharge initiative. According to Daimler, this will be Europe’s largest semi-public charging network for heavy-duty electric trucks and will complement the work being done by Milence BV, the Daimler-Traton-Volvo truck charging joint venture based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This venture aims to bridge the gap between limited public infrastructure and private depot charging by allowing depot operators to open their chargers to outside users during downtime. This business model supports the industry’s transition to electric vehicles by providing more readily available charging options, helping smaller operators without the capital to invest in their own dedicated charging infrastructure. Of course, this will also help support the rollout of Daimler’s new electric truck range.

The company plans to roll out over 3,000 fast-charging points across Europe by 2030, with the first stations expected to open in late 2025. Chargers will offer multiple power levels (50 kW, 200 kW, and 400 kW) to support a wide range of truck types, including those from other manufacturers. Daimler is working with key hardware partners like Alpitronic, Siemens, ENGIE, and EVBox to deliver the charging hardware and infrastructure.
