Mercedes celebrates delivery of 5 million Sprinters

Five-millionth Sprinter, built in Charleston, South Carolina

Germany / USA – Earlier in May, Mercedes-Benz Group AG of Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany delivered its five-millionth ‘Sprinter’ van, which was built in its South Carolina plant for American delivery company FedEx Corporation.

The milestone vehicle was a battery electric ‘eSprinter’, assembled at the ‘Mercedes-Benz Vans LLC’ plant in Charleston, South Carolina, where production of the new eSprinter range was initially launched in 2023. The American location is nearly twenty years old and employs over 1,600 workers. Major investments have been made at the site in recent years: in 2018, the plant was expanded to meet rising demand for Sprinters in North America, and in 2024, USD50m was invested to support eSprinter production.
