Rivian begins construction of “supplier park” near EV plant

USA – Rivian Automotive Inc of Irvine, California has begun construction of a supplier hub, located near its manufacturing plant in Normal, Illinois, which will support the assembly of parts for its electric vehicles.
Rivian is investing nearly USD120m in the 1.2m square-foot “supplier park”, next to the site where it builds all its electric vehicles (including its ‘Electric Delivery Van’). The company hopes to attract some of its key suppliers to set up light assembly operations at the site. Nearly 100 people will be employed by Rivian to kit and sequence the parts built in the supplier park before moving them to the vehicle plant. An underground tunnel will also be constructed to transport goods between the supplier park and the plant.
