GermanyZF Friedrichhafen AG of Friedrichshafen, Baden-Württemberg has launched a new system for trailer manufacturers which it says will make it easier to ensure trailers on the road are compliant with the latest safety and cybersecurity standards.

ZF describes its new ‘Software Update Management System’ as a “service suite” or “comprehensive toolkit” that simplifies the work of updating trailers over-the-air in line with international regulations. Through ZF’s ‘Scalar’ fleet management platform, the system manages, records, and verifies software and hardware versions for trailer electronic devices. The company says its system will ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards, facilitate regular audits and certification renewals, and document the impact of software updates on type approvals and regulations.
