Daimler Buses to unveil new eCitaro with next-gen NMC4 battery at UITP 2025

New eCitaro

Germany – Later this month at UITP in Hamburg (June 15–18, 2025), Daimler Buses GmbH (owned by Daimler Truck AG of Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany) will present the latest version of the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro featuring the all-new NMC4 battery. According to Daimler, this fourth-generation lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt battery offers significantly increased energy density for extended range and improved durability. Available from 2026, it supports both overnight charging (150 kW) and fast charging up to 300 kW.

This product launch aligns with Daimler Buses’ wider strategic pivot toward electrification and digitalisation. Following a challenging 2024 financial year, the company is doubling down on its e-services portfolio, now covering everything from enhanced digital fleet management to fully turnkey depot electrification via Daimler Buses Solutions GmbH. The infrastructure arm provides end-to-end services including construction, electrical work, battery storage, and charging management systems.
