Olectra wins order for 297 e-buses for the mountainous region of Himachal Pradesh

India / China – Hyderabad-based Olectra Greentech Ltd (formerly Goldstone Infratech Ltd), which has a strategic partnership with BYD Auto Industry Co Ltd of Shenzhen, China, has received an order from the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) for the supply of 297 non-air-conditioned, 9-metre electric buses1. This is the first and largest outright purchase of electric buses by a state transport corporation in India.
Valued at INR424 crore (approximately USD 51.08 million), the 30-seat passenger electric buses have been engineered specifically for the challenging hilly terrain of Himachal Pradesh and are expected to have range of up to 180 kilometres on a single charge (edit – surprisingly low range given the operational location).
