Bus and coach sector above 7.5t enjoy strong sales in FY2024-25

India – Domestic sales of buses and coaches (>7.5t gvw) in the FY 2024/25 increased by 23.4% to 65,580 units from 53,137 units in the previous fiscal year. Total bus production increased by 25.9% to 69,480 units in FY 2024/25 from 55,201 units in previous fiscal year. Total bus exports (>7.5t gvw) experience a growth of 12.2% to 11,236 units from 10,014 units.
Turning to the individual segments, domestic sales of medium duty buses (ICV: 7.5 tonnes - 12 tonnes) grew by 20.3% from 28,778 units in the previous fiscal year to 34,632 units in FY 2024/25. Exports sales fell by 6.8% from 3,129 units to 2,916 units, while production rose by 11.2% to 35,083 units from 31,540 units. Tata Motors registered growth of 31.9% but VECV led the field with 13,647 units up by 16% compared with the previous year.
