Berger launches lightweight curtainsider for metal coil transportation at Transport Logistic

Berger and Schmitz representatives pose in front of the PerformanceCoil trailer at Transport Logistic in Munich

GermanyBerger Fahrzeugtechnik GesmbH, based in Radfold, Tyrol, Austria, used the Transport Logistic trade show in Munich earlier in June to launch a lightweight semi-trailer for metal coil transportation, as part of a new generation of ‘Performance’ trailers with curtain-sided bodies fitted by Schmitz.

With a coil trough measuring 8,200mm in length, Berger’s ‘PerformanceCoil’ is designed to carry steel and metal coils with diameters between 800 and 2,100mm. The curtain-sided trailer offers a payload of up to 27.5 tons while starting at an unladen weight as low as 4.8 tonnes. With S700 fine grain steel and a special frame design, Berger’s chassis offers “maximum stability with a minimum unladen weight”, according to Schmitz.
