Indonesia’s truck and bus markets rebound in Q1 2025

Indonesia - The Indonesian market for commercial vehicles over 2 tons gvw increased by over 15% to 31,295 units in the first quarter of 2025 from very weak year-earlier levels – when volumes plunged by 42% to 27,169 units, according to data compiled by industry association Gaikindo.

The country’s economy expanded by 4.9% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025; a slight slowdown compared with 5.0% growth in the previous quarter. This reflects weak government spending during the quarter, which shrank by 1.4% year-on-year after growing by 4.2% in the previous quarter, while private consumption growth slowed to 4.9% from 5.0% and fixed investment growth slowed to 2.1% from 5.0%.
