Germany / USA – Components supplier Schaeffler AG of Herzogenaurach, Bavaria, Germany has announced that it will enlist the support of American tech company Nvidia Corporation in digitising production across all of its factories, optimising work processes and easing the implementation of artificial intelligence.
Schaeffler will use the ‘Nvidia Omniverse’ platform to develop “digital twins” or simulations for entire plants and production equipment. Using these digital twins, Schaeffler engineers will be able to simulate the physical properties of materials and processes before implementing them in reality, which the company says will allow for faster optimisation of production. Moreover, Nvidia’s platform will allow Schaeffler to implement AI solutions more easily: for example, in automating certain assembly processes, or even in deploying humanoid robots on the factory floor.
