Germany / Italy – Turkish-owned axle specialist, Brist Axle Systems Srl of Montichiari, Italy, has been busy developing a range of modular electric drive axles and transmissions for bus, truck and off-road applications. On display at the 2025 UITP Summit in Hamburg (June 15–18, 2025) were two eAxles, a central drive unit for the midibus segment and a low-floor eAxle with independent suspension for heavy-duty transit bus transport segments.

The eCEN175LE (Central Drive eAxle) for low-entry midibuses of 8 to 11 tons GVW is due to go into production with a Turkish bus builder at the end of 2025. Many of the components making up the eAxle, e.g. the axle, wheel ends, brake actuators, and single (and two-speed) transmission, are all designed and manufactured in-house at Brist’s facilities in Italy and Turkey. The eCEN175LE has a load capacity of up to 6.5 tons and provides continuous power of up to 160kW (Peak 250kW) and torque of 6,500Nm (10,000Nm) using integrated high-performance 800VDC hairpin winding motors. A heavier duty variant is also available, the eCEN195LE for 11 to 16 ton GVW transit buses with the option of a Brist single (SST) or Brist two-speed (MSS) transmission with various gear ratios.
