France / Switzerland – Automated technology specialist ABB Ltd of Zürich, Switzerland, has acquired a 93% controlling stake in French power electronics manufacturer BrightLoop, marking a strategic expansion of its industrial mobility offering. The deal, signed in May 2025, is expected to close by Q3 2025 pending regulatory approvals. ABB also confirmed plans to acquire the remaining shares by 2028. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. BrightLoop's “modular, silicon carbide and gallium nitride-based power converters will enhance ABB's ability to deliver compact, efficient, and intelligent power systems built to withstand harsh environments.”

Founded in 2010 and employing 90 staff, BrightLoop reported approximately EUR 16 million in revenue for 2024. These DC/DC converters are built to handle bidirectional power flows and will be scaled and adopted across sectors, including off-highway vehicles, marine propulsion, aerospace, hydrogen mobility, and defence.
