GermanyMAN Truck & Bus SE, a commercial vehicle manufacturer and subsidiary of Traton, celebrated the seventieth anniversary of its Munich vehicle plant at the end of June with an event attended by 20,000 guests.

The company commemorated the establishment of its heavy truck factory – now also its headquarters – in 1955, since which date it has built more than 1.25 million trucks and 2 million cabs. Today, the plant covers an area of around one million square metres and includes later additions such as two administration buildings and two exhibition spaces, the ‘Truck Forum’ and the ‘Bus Forum’. In recent years, further buildings have been added, including a new paint shop, body shop, and engineering and testing building. The site also incorporates a test track, a combined heat and power plant, and even a neo-Gothic castle.
