Karsan launches autonomous e-ATAK in Paris pilot project

Karsan autonomous bus

France / Turkey – After recently becoming the first autonomous (level 4) e-bus in Sweden, Turkish bus manufacturer, Karsan Otomotiv Sanayii ve Tic. A.Ş based in Bursa has introduced its Level 4 autonomous electric bus, the e-ATAK, to France through a demonstration in Paris. The vehicle began operation in July 2025 at Boulogne-Billancourt, a western suburb of Paris, as part of a demonstration and testing initiative led by local authorities in collaboration with Île-de-France Mobilités and RATP Dev.

This marks Karsan's first autonomous public road deployment in France, following similar initiatives in Sweden, Italy, Switzerland, and Finland. The operation is conducted on public roads, with the Level 4 autonomous e-ATAK running without a driver actively operating the vehicle, although a safety operator is present in the cabin for oversight during this initial phase.
