MAN expands TGE customisation options with new tipper and box van variants

MAN TGE with BE-Combi box van semi-trailer

GermanyMAN Truck & Bus SE, a subsidiary of Traton based in Munich, Bavaria, has established a bodybuilder programme for its ‘TGE’ vans, adding a tipper option and box van semi-trailer option to its range of ex works customisations.

The box van option is a unique offering from Dutch firm BE-Combi which effectively turns the TGE into a small tractor unit, complete with subframe, fifth wheel, air supply unit, and intelligent braking system. The vehicle attaches to and detaches from the ‘3500Plus’ single-axle trailer, a 3.5-tonne box van with a payload of around 2,650 kilograms and a cargo volume of up to 28 cubic metres. With a gross combination weight of 7 tonnes, MAN is advertising the BE-Combi vehicle as an alternative to the 7.5-tonne truck which only requires a ‘BE’-category licence to drive.1
