Torc and Aeva expand collaboration to accelerate Daimler Truck’s autonomous Cascadia programme

Aeva and DTNA partnership

USATorc Robotics Inc., a subsidiary of Daimler Truck North America (DTNA), has deepened its partnership with Aeva Technologies Inc. to accelerate the rollout of autonomous-ready Freightliner Cascadia trucks. The two companies, which first announced their collaboration in early 2024, have now expanded the agreement to include shared LiDAR sensing data and a common Freightliner Cascadia platform to refine Torc’s Virtual Driver software.

In mid-2025, Aeva confirmed that it is ramping up production of its Atlas 4D FMCW LiDAR sensors to a capacity of 200,000 units annually, backed financially by Daimler Truck. These sensors, capable of detecting objects up to 500 metres with instant velocity data, are being integrated directly on the assembly line, allowing customers to purchase autonomous-ready trucks from the factory.
