Tesla’s Cybertruck launched in South Korea

South Korea / USA - US battery electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Inc, headquartered in Austin, Texas, launched its Cybertruck battery-powered pickup truck in South Korea at the end of August, as the company looks to tap into growing demand for pickups in the country.

Local manufacturer, Kia Corporation launched the Tasman earlier this year, the first purpose-built pickup truck by a local vehicle manufacturer. Until last year, only small volumes of imported pickup trucks were sold in this market, including the Chevrolet Colorado and the Ford Ranger. Kia reported almost 4,000 domestic sales of the Tasman in the second quarter of 2025, after deliveries began in late March. Local manufacturer KG Mobility also launched a battery-powered pickup truck earlier this year, the Musso EV.
