India’s light truck market stagnant in first quarter of FY2025/26

India - Sales of LCV goods carrier vehicles (light trucks) of GVW ≤ 7.5 tons in India remained steady, declining by just 0.6% to 122,627 units in the first quarter (April to June) of fiscal year of 2025 (Q1 FY2025-26) from 123,414 units in the same period of the previous year. Production was down by 1.3% to 139,543 units, while exports grew strongly by 14.8% to 12,062 units.

In the lightest GVW ≤ 2 tons category, domestic sales fell by 14.6% to 31,898 units from 37,343 units a year earlier. Production also declined significantly by 27.1% to 31,613 units, although exports rose sharply by 62.6% to 1,641 units.
