India bus and coach sales rise 6.6% in first quarter of this fiscal year

India – India’s domestic sales of buses (GVW 7.5 tons and above) registered a modest increase of 6.6% in Q1 FY2025-26, rising to 18,137 units from 17,009 units in the same quarter of FY2024-25. Production witnessed a sharp rise of 51.0%, reaching 22,230 units, while exports surged significantly by 59.9% to 3,171 units compared with 1,983 units last year.

In the medium-duty bus segment (7.5–12 tons GVW), domestic sales grew by 15.4% to 11,421 units from 9,895 units in the year-ago quarter. Production also jumped by 39.8% to 11,851 units, though exports dipped by 8.0% to 644 units.
