East Asia - Sales of commercial vehicles over 2 tons gvw in East Asia’s seven main markets, excluding China, declined by almost 5% year-on-year to 263,365 units in the second quarter of 2025, following a 10% decline to 276,668 units in the same period last year, based on data compiled from numerous industry sources including industry associations and vehicle manufacturers.
In the first half of 2025, commercial vehicle sales fell by 1.5% to 536,491 units, as business sentiment across the region weakened significantly ahead of expected import duty hikes by the US government. Consumer spending remained sluggish in many countries, despite continued interest rate cuts by central banks across the region to support domestic consumption.
