Tata AutoComp and Katcon Global set up new JV for advanced composites in Mexico

Mexico / India - Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd1 of Pune, India and Mexico’s Katcon SA de CV2 have launched a new joint venture in Monterrey, Mexico to manufacture advanced lightweight composite materials aimed at the North American market, including the USA and Canada. The joint venture, which is called Tata Katcon Composites S.A. de C.V., is expected to produce body and a selection of structural components for both body and chassis of passenger and commercial vehicles, as well as agricultural tractors, off-road vehicles, and non-automotive applications.
This collaboration builds on a 13-year existing partnership between the two companies in India, where they focus on exhaust systems and emission after-treatment solutions. For the new joint venture, Tata AutoComp is to contribute proprietary core technology, including patented composite formulations and manufacturing processes, while Katcon brings operational expertise, regulatory know-how, and on-ground execution capability.
