Germany – Daimler Truck AG, a commercial vehicle manufacturer based in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Baden-Württemberg, has signed a memorandum of understanding with two partners to establish a European-wide supply chain for “green” liquid hydrogen.
Together with Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd and Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), Daimler Truck aims to build a network for the import of liquid hydrogen into Europe through the Port of Hamburg, the continent’s third-busiest port. HHLA will manage the transshipment of liquid hydrogen from the port to several destinations via road and rail. Kawasaki’s role is to build carrier ships capable of transporting as much as 160,000 cubic metres of liquid hydrogen – comparable to today’s carriers of liquified natural gas.
