Maxion Structural Components is investing USD 65 million in a new chassis components manufacturing plant in Castaños, Mexico.

This debut marks the first product from Maxion Structural Components' global partnership with French battery supplier, Forsee Power, announced in April last year.

Customers will consult them on the best e-powertrain layout for their needs, considering factors such as: maximising use of the available space; optimising weight distribution and the vehicle’s total weight; optimising vehicle payload and power, based on the customer’s use case.

Last year Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus announced plans to allocate BRA110m million (USD27m) to make the necessary adjustments at its Resende (RJ) plant to tailor its production lines to begin assembling electric trucks as soon as 2020.
