Maxion and Forsee Power to offer integrated e-powertrain and chassis to global CV market

Brazil / France – The last month saw the announcement of a major partnership which could change how electric vehicle frames are made. Maxion Structural Components SA, which is a subsidiary of the Iochpe-Maxion group based in Cruzeiro, São Paulo, Brazil, will be working with French battery manufacturer Forsee Power SAS to offer a complete electric chassis to customers across the world, with the powertrain components laid out to provide optimal weight distribution while making economic use of the available space.

The partners say that one of the “key challenges to electrification” is integrating powertrain components such as the motor(s) and the batteries with the chassis while avoiding a fatal compromise on passenger or cargo space, weight or payload, and/or power. For instance, a heavy and bulky battery pack in the wrong place could be detrimental to the spread of weight, leading to problems with handling and performance.
