Spheros is a global tech company and market leader in the development and manufacture of tailored thermal management systems for all city buses and coaches - both conventional and electric - as well as refrigerated transportation fleets. Established in 1956, the Spheros Group develops sustainable solutions that support the electrification of the global bus fleet, helping to reduce emissions and fuel consumption. 

The product range includes air conditioning and heating systems, coolant pumps, battery cooling modules, roof hatches, refrigeration equipment, and other related hardware, as well as smart electronic control units.

The Company, with its headquarters in Gilching near Munich, has a global presence with operations in Europe, North America, South America, China, India, South Africa and Australia serving both OEMs and the aftermarket. The Spheros Group has a workforce of more than 1,100 people.

All-electric A/C rooftop unit for e- and hybrid buses

Description

Development for buses with alternative powertrains, designed specifically to meet the demands of global markets.

Particular emphasis has been placed on lightweight construction, performance and ease of installation. In addition to heat pump technology, customers also have the option of PTC heating and battery cooling.

To enhance riders' experience, the system cools and heats the interior of the electric vehicle efficiently and with low energy consumption.

The system is a “plug & play” unit that can even be delivered pre-filled to the customer.

SPHEROS Thermo HV

High Voltage Water Coolant Heater

Description

Thermo HV is the future solution for plugin and e-powered buses and commercial vehicles that quickly, consistently and reliably heats the vehicle interior. The compact device ensures a constantly high heat output of 12kW and allows for flexible use in a power range of 600 to 850 Volts.

Thermo HV features infinitely variable heat output control by means of an integral control unit. This takes place either by regulating the water outlet temperature or by limiting the maximum heat output or power consumption.

Furthermore, it is CAN-capable and transmits key operating data to the vehicle system using an intelligent diagnostic function.

Description

The fast growing electrification of mobility – particularly in public transport – requires high-performance mobile energy storage systems that enhance travel comfort.

With E-Cooler Spheros has introduced a range of battery temperature management models with a maximum cooling capacity of 10 kW, offering an optimal solution for a wide range of applications. Depending on the requirement, the E-Cooler protects the battery from overheating during charging and discharging, cools it while driving at higher outside temperatures and heavy loads.

An additional heating function even warms up the sensitive batteries if necessary to ensure the optimal temperature range for the charging cycle.

Spheros has become leading manufacturer of high-end water pumps for bus and truck, agricultural and construction machinery, off-highway and commercial vehicles.

New versions with PWM and CAN feature variable speed control, save energy, reduce noise emission and always provide outstanding performance required for electrically powered vehicles.

The SPump S120 and S200 are the lightest weight and most compact circulation pumps of their kind within the product family.

The 500 W variant convinces with a high flow rate at high counter pressure. With an extended ambient temperature range of up to 95 °C at the highest level of reliability, the SPump is the best solution for water pumps in comfort application and component cooling worldwide.
