Chile - According to data released by the National Automotive Association of Chile (ANAC) based in Santiago, sales of commercial vehicles in the first quarter of 2021 grew by 30.1% over the same period last year. A total of 3,915 units were sold against 2,966 units in the first quarter of 2020. These results are explained by ANAC, in part, by the fact that the growth is from a low comparative base in the same quarter last year, due to a weak economy and due to restrictions in civil industrial, and general construction activities.

The truck segment grew by 34.9% to 3,461 units sold, compared with 2,566 units in the first quarter of 2020. According to ANAC’s management, the improvement in business confidence and national GDP with a rise in employment and hiring prospects all contributed to growth in demand for trucks and other work vehicles in the first quarter this year.
