Kodiak Robotics unveils fourth-generation autonomous truck system

USA – Autonomous vehicle specialist Kodiak Robotics Inc, based in Mountain View, California, has announced a fourth generation of its autonomous truck system. Built upon a Kenworth T680 heavy duty truck, Kodiak’s system features a suite of sensors and features that support its autonomous capabilities, including lidar, radar, cameras, and tyre sensors.

The fourth-generation truck features a modular set of three sensors located on the tractor unit. The first is a low profile ‘centre pod’ located on the front roofline of the truck, with two more pods integrated into the side mirrors. Kodiak claims the placement of the sensors simplifies installation and maintenance while increasing safety.
