BYD secures orders for 12m eBus in Spain and Israel

Spain / Israel / China – Shenzhen-based automaker BYD Inc has announced it is to supply 100 eBuses to Israel’s largest city public transport operator Egged, and a further 25 eBuses to Barcelona’s public transport operator Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB).

Both operators have ordered the BYD 12m eBus, the most popular model in the manufacturer’s portfolio. The vehicles utilise BYD’s 442kWh iron-phosphate batteries which the firm claims can deliver a range of 400km (250 miles). With a gross vehicle weight of 19,000kg, the buses feature two electric motors that can output a maximum of 150kW each. The Israeli order will be fulfilled by the end of 2022, with the Spanish order staggered between 2022 and 2024.
