Daimler Truck, Volvo Group, and Traton Group enter charging network JV

Germany / Sweden – Stuttgart-based Daimler Truck AG, Traton SE of Munich, and AB Volvo, based in Gothenburg, have announced the signing of a joint venture agreement to install and operate a high-performance public charging network for battery electric trucks and coaches across Europe.

The binding agreement states that the JV is to be equally owned by the three parties and is scheduled to start operations in 2022, following regulatory approval. Collectively, the firms have agreed to invest EUR500 million which they claim makes the agreement the largest charging infrastructure investment in the European heavy-truck industry to date.
