Market for CVs in Japan declines in Q4 despite strong GDP growth

Japan – Sales of commercial vehicles over 2 tons gvw fell by almost 15% to 84,410 units in the fourth quarter of 2021 from 98,836 units a year earlier, based on data released the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA). 

The country’s economy rebounded by 5.4% year-on-year in the fourth quarter following a 2.7% contraction in the third quarter, after the government relaxed social and business restrictions put in place earlier in the year to slow a surge in Covid Delta infections.
