Successful deliveries of HVAC systems in ADL’s E400EV’s leads to potential opportunities for Hispacold in North America

Spain / USA – It was back in 2019 that Hispacold started to deliver its first of 37 full electric HVAC systems for Alexander Dennis’ E400EV electric double deck models. The vehicles were equipped with two electric HVAC systems, one for passengers, the DDE HP E400 EV, and one for the driver, DCAB HP E400 EV.

Since then, the climate control specialist for city buses, trolleybuses, trams and coaches, Hispacold SA of Seville, Spain, has developed and delivered five prototype systems for trials in the E500EV CHARGE all-electric double deck, ADL’s most recently launched product (summer 2021) in the USA. These vehicles were fitted with Hispacold’s Phicool compact integrated HVAC system with two independent circuits activated by two compressors. Equipped with a reversible heat pump, each unit has a cooling capacity of 2x21kW and a heating capacity of 2x18kW. Similar to the systems used in ADL’s E400EV, the Phicool model features a separate HVAC driver unit with a cooling capacity of 3.5kW and a heating capacity of 4.2kW.
