EasyMile begins autonomous pilot project at Daimler Truck’s Wörth plant

Germany - Easymile SAS, based in Toulouse, France, has begun an autonomous vehicle pilot project at the Wörth plant of Stuttgart-based Daimler Truck AG. The TractEasy project is operating an autonomous tow tractor to transport production parts outdoors across a 900m route with mixed traffic conditions.

During the pilot, TractEasy is transporting parts from a storage area to the production line. Similar automated vehicles have traditionally been restricted to operating indoors, with EasyMile stating that it believes this project marks a large step forward in the development of fully autonomous vehicles. The tractor at the Wörth plant operates at 10 km/h and can tow up to 14 tonnes of parts.
