Symbio to install electrolyser for hydrogen production at new facility

|

By Bradley Osborne - 5th August 2022

FranceSymbio, a fuel-cell system joint venture between Faurecia and Michelin based in Fontaine (Isère), France, has signed a contract for the supply of a proton-exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyser from Elogen, based in Les Ulis, France, for its projected new facility in Saint-Fons.

The electrolyser, with an initial capacity of 2.5MW, will produce part of the “green” or renewable hydrogen volumes required by Symbio at the new plant, where it will manufacture fuel-cell systems for commercial vehicles. It will be capable of producing one tonne of low-carbon hydrogen per day, which can then be used for testing and activating Symbio’s fuel-cell systems at the end of the manufacturing process.
