Nikola to install trucks with PlusDrive advanced driver assistance system

Nikola Tre BEV

USANikola Corporation of Phoenix, Arizona has announced that its battery-electric and fuel-cell electric Class 8 trucks will be available with highly automated driver assistance features designed by Plus – a tech company from Santa Clara, California – from late 2024 onwards.

Future ‘Tre’ vehicles will be outfitted with a version of ‘PlusDrive’ which incorporates a set of advanced driver assistance systems that take many different operations out of the driver’s hands. On the motorway, PlusDrive handles lane centring, lane changes, merges, stop-and-go traffic, and nudging. With electric steering and ZF’s Electronic Braking System, PlusDrive will also be able to automatically engage the brakes when needed. The system will be updated frequently over-the-air.
