India: Bus and coach sales jump 130% in Q3 of FY2022-23

India – Domestic sales of buses and coaches (7.5t gvw and above) increased by 130.5% in Q3 (October to December) of the financial year 2022-23 (Q3/FY22-23) to register 8,331 units, up from 3,615 units in Q3 of FY 2021-22. Bus and coach production increased by 124.6% in Q3 of FY 2022-23 to 11,211 units from 4,992 units in Q3 FY 2021-22. Bus and coach exports increased in the third quarter by 84.5% to 3,035 from 1,645 units.
Turning to the individual segments, sales of medium-duty buses (ICV: 7.5 tonnes - 12 tonnes) increased by 90.9% from 1,931 units in Q3/FY21-22 to 3,687 units in Q3/FY22-23. Production of ICV buses and coaches increased by 112.6% to register 6,148 units in Q3/FY22-23 from 2,892 units, while exports improved by 10.7% to 805 (727).
