Germany / Sweden – Scania AB, a subsidiary of the Traton Group based in Södertälje, Sweden, has announced the deployment of its very first car transporter truck powered by an all-electric powertrain in Germany.1
The vehicle is a ‘P 25’ cab-chassis with a car transporter body built by Kässbohrer Fahrzeugwerke GmbH of Ulm, Baden-Württemberg. The truck, with a combination weight reaching up to 42 tons when fully laden with eight cars, is powered by a 230-kWh battery. Scania claims the battery is recharged in less than 90 minutes with a 130-kW CCS 2 charger while cars are being loaded and unloaded.
