Phoenix Motor presents 4th-gen e-chassis and battery swap service at ACT Expo

Fourth-generation cutaway van e-chassis by Phoenix Motor

USA – At the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Anaheim, California, held between 1-4 May 2023, Phoenix Motor Inc, also of Anaheim, presented its fourth-generation electric drive system and demonstrated its battery swap service.

Phoenix Motor says it changed the layout of the new e-chassis (based on the Ford E-450) to make more space for its newly designed battery packs towards the front and rear of the frame rails. The batteries will initially have a capacity of 90 kWh, offering up to 150 miles of range and recharging in one to two hours with a 100-kW Level III charger. (Work on the new battery packs and chassis was possibly carried out with the help of Chinese battery supplier CATL, with whom Phoenix Motors signed a Memorandum of Understanding last year.)
