Europe – The H2Accelerate* programme has published a whitepaper where it has committed to building 8 new hydrogen refuelling stations and rolling out 150 new hydrogen fuel cell heavy-duty trucks in Europe in the next few years. The European programme has partly been funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership (EUR 30 million for 150 hydrogen fuel cell trucks) and the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for the 8 hydrogen refuelling stations across France and the Netherlands. The lack of hydrogen refuelling infrastructure has long been a concern for the likes of ACEA, as these two initiatives hope to bridge the gap between hydrogen heavy-duty trucks and the production and distribution of green hydrogen.

The project will be conducted in various phases, the first being the collection of data and feedback on the operational and financial performance of the vehicles and infrastructure, which will be used to inform the next phase of deployment, to maximise the speed at which the sector can reach full industrialisation.
