Spain – Johanna Salomonsson Lind, Senior Vice President and Head of Bus and Coach at Scania AB, told T&BB at the UITP1 Global Public Transport Summit in Barcelona, Spain that she made the “really tough decision” to discontinue bus body production in Europe so that Scania can focus its investments in its areas of strength.

We reported earlier this month that Scania will cease body production for bus chassis at its plant in Słupsk, Poland next year, and will instead focus on supplying its chassis to dedicated bodybuilders. Lind confirmed that the integral ‘Citywide’ and ‘Interlink’ models will be discontinued. In addition, Scania will stop making the low-floor ‘C’ chassis from next year. Production of the ‘F’ and ‘K’ chassis will continue as normal at Słupsk and at other Scania facilities across the world.
