DTNA and the state of Michigan collaborate on EV truck stop project

EV Truck Charging

USA – In partnership with Daimler Truck North America LLC (DTNA) of Portland, Oregon (a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG) and energy company, DTE Energy Co, the state of Michigan announced plans for a USD 13 million-dollar state-funded project to develop a new charging hub for EV freight trucks. The prototype programme, known as “the Mobility Charging Hub”, will house large-scale charging infrastructure (provided and operated by DTE Energy) to charge EV trucks in the expectation it will provide a blueprint for companies to transition their legacy (ICE) fleets to electric alternatives. The charging hub is set to be located on DTNA’s Redford facility in Detroit due to its proximity to the 1-96 highway and its power supply capabilities. The project is to be undertaken in stages, with the Michigan Office of Future Mobility and Electrification (OFME) stating it aims to complete Stage 1 (funding) by the end of the year.
