Mercedes-Benz celebrates 25 years of the Econic

Econic waste disposal

Germany – This month, Daimler Truck AG of Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Baden-Württemberg celebrated 25 years of the Mercedes-Benz Econic, the low-entry cab vehicle for various specialist applications. The company has produced and delivered over 28,000 units to date, of these around 85% are used for waste disposal applications, mostly across Europe. Today’s Econic is available as a two, three, or four-axle vehicle in 18, 26 and 32 (four-axle variant) tonne versions and is powered by a 6-cylinder inline engine with turbo and intercooler. In late 2022, the company announced that a fully electric version (eEconic) is in series production at its plant in Wörth, Germany. The vehicle features two electric motors and three battery packs with a capacity of 336 kWh.
