Schmitz to acquire 49% stake in Berger Fahrzeugtechnik

Germany / Austria – Schmitz Cargobull AG of Horstmar, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany has announced plans to acquire a 49% stake in fellow semi-trailer manufacturer Berger Fahrzeugtechnik GesmbH, a company based in Radfeld, Tyrol, Austria which specialises in lightweight trailers.

Following approval of the transaction by competition authorities, Berger will benefit from access to the Schmitz distribution network and associated services, including connectivity through the ‘TrailerConnect’ platform. Schmitz hopes to combine the companies’ expertise in the development of new components and products.
