Growth of 16.9% for bus and coach market in EU countries in first half of 2023

Europe - The city bus, intercity and coach markets in Europe* (*Countries EU27+UK+ICE+NO+CH) enjoyed an improvement in demand in the first six months of 2023 of 16.9% with total registrations rising to 13,853 compared with 11,848 units registered in the same period the year before, according to figures collated and produced by Wim Chatrou of Chatrou CME Solutions (CME) of The Netherlands.
The city bus market volume grew by 12.5% from just over 6,000 to 6,773 units, while the intercity bus market grew more modestly by 6.6% to almost 4,000 units in the first half of 2023 compared with 3,740 in the first half of 2022. Coach sales recovered strongly, finally rebounding post covid and increasing by almost 50% to 3,102 (2,099), as seen in the table below:
