Quantron to retrofit Ford F-Max trucks with fuel cell powertrain

Germany / TurkeyQuantron AG of Gersthofen, Bavaria, Germany has signed a Letter of Intent with Ford Otomotiv Sanayi AŞ (“Ford Otosan”), a joint venture between Ford and the Koç Group based in Gölcük, Turkey, for the joint development of Ford ‘F-Max’ trucks powered by hydrogen fuel cells.

According to the terms of the non-binding agreement, Ford Otosan will support Quantron in fitting F-Max trucks with a fuel cell electric powertrain, comprising e-axle, high-power battery, fuel cells, and hydrogen storage tanks. Fuel cell electric trucks currently produced by Quantron and based on the MAN TGS/TGX are powered by Ballard ‘FCmove-XD’ 120-kW fuel cells, providing a range of approximately 700 kilometres.
