ADL announces first customer for US-built double-deck bus by North American partner - Big Rig

USA / UK – Last year UK bus and coach manufacturer, Alexander Dennis Ltd (ADL) based in Larbert, Scotland, announced that its Enviro500 double-deck bus manufactured by its new North American build partner (Big Rig Manufacturing) will be delivered to the Appalachian State University campus in North Carolina in 2025. The bus service will be run by AppalCART when they take ownership of the double-decker in Q1 2025. After a successful trial in October 2021, AppalCART is now a new client of the Scottish OEM. The bus has been selected due to its high passenger capacity (100) which will run on a popular route linking different university faculties.
ADL set up its new North American operation with its build partner Big Rig Manufacturing* of Las Vegas, USA in 2023. ADL closed previous production facilities in Indiana and Toronto in 2020. There are over 1,000 Alexander Dennis double-deckers currently in service in North America with many existing customers, having vehicles approaching replacement.
